Why We Don’t Call Ourselves a Luxury Wedding Planner

Spend five minutes browsing wedding vendor websites and you’ll quickly notice one word everywhere: luxury.
Luxury wedding planner. Luxury photographer. Luxury florist. Luxury stationery designer.
The reality is that the word has become so common in the wedding industry that it’s starting to lose its meaning.

When everyone is luxury, is anyone?
Traditionally, luxury is defined as a state of exceptional comfort, elegance, exclusivity, and service that goes far beyond what is necessary. It’s not simply a higher price tag, a beautiful Instagram feed, or a certain type of client. It’s an experience.

For us, luxury isn’t measured by how many flowers are on the table or whether a wedding budget reaches a certain number. We’ve seen incredibly thoughtful, beautifully executed weddings at a variety of investment levels.

What defines a luxury experience is what happens behind the scenes.
It’s the planner who notices the weather changing and has a backup plan before anyone else realizes there’s a problem.
It’s the vendor who responds promptly, communicates clearly, anticipates needs, and treats every event with the same level of care and professionalism.
It’s the ability to remain calm under pressure, solve problems discreetly, and make complex events feel effortless for the people experiencing them.

At Events by Emily, we don’t use the word luxury often because we’d rather demonstrate it than declare it.

To us, luxury means being five steps ahead. It means obsessive attention to detail. It means anticipating issues before they become problems. It means treating every wedding as if it were our own.
Most importantly, it means allowing our couples to feel like guests at their own wedding.
That’s the standard we hold ourselves to—whether we call it luxury or not.
